1. Introduction
Welcome to Flashlight ("the App"). This Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we handle information when you use our app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
2. Information We Collect
The Flashlight app itself does not collect, store, or process any personal or sensitive information from its users. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contact lists, files, photos, or any other personal data.
The only data collection that occurs within the app is carried out by our third-party advertising partner, Google AdMob, in order to display advertisements. AdMob may collect anonymous data such as your Android Advertising ID (AAID) and general device information to serve relevant ads. This data is collected and processed solely by Google AdMob under their own privacy policy.
The app requests access to your device's camera hardware exclusively to control the flashlight (torch). No images, video, or any other data from your camera are captured, stored, or transmitted at any time.
3. How We Use Information
Since the app itself does not collect any user data, we have no data to use for our own purposes.
Google AdMob uses the anonymized data it collects to display advertisements within the app. This advertising system helps support the app's continued development and maintenance. You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings (see Section 5).
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell, trade, or share any user data, as we do not collect any. The only third-party service integrated into this app is Google AdMob for advertisement delivery. AdMob operates under Google's Privacy Policy, which you can review at:
Google AdMob / Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) may be used to obtain your consent before personalised ads are shown, in compliance with GDPR and UK GDPR requirements.
5. User Rights and Choices
You maintain control over your advertising preferences while using our app. You can reset your device's Android Advertising ID (AAID) or opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings:
- • Android 12 and later: Settings > Privacy > Ads
- • Android 11 and earlier: Settings > Google > Ads
You may also revoke the camera permission granted to the app at any time through Settings > Apps > Flashlight > Permissions. Revoking this permission will prevent the flashlight functionality from working.
Since the app itself does not collect or store personal data, there is no user data held by us to access, correct, or delete. For any data held by Google AdMob, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy and their data deletion tools.
6. Data Security
Because the app does not collect or store any user data on our end, there is no personal information at risk from our side. Our third-party advertising partner, Google AdMob, maintains comprehensive security protocols to protect any data they process, as detailed in Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Retention
The Flashlight app does not retain any user data. Any data collected by Google AdMob for advertising purposes is retained according to Google's own data retention policies, as described in their Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
8. Device Permissions
The app requests the following device permission:
- • Camera (CAMERA): Used exclusively to access the device's flashlight (torch) hardware. The app does not use the camera to capture images or video, and no camera data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, applicable laws, or third-party service updates. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through:
- • A prominent notice within the app
- • An update to the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- • An in-app notification for particularly important changes
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
10. Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or under 16 years of age in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, per GDPR requirements). We do not knowingly collect or solicit any personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through our app, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
